Get To Know Me #3: I Call Your Name
This one comes from Thom. Thom lives in Hawaii, the land of pineapples, volcanoes, and great surfing. He’s one of the few cheerful people that I don’t want to choke because he understands that not everyone is wired to be able to be happy. I wish I was, but that ain’t the way the chips fell.
This meme has nine questions. I choose memes that let you get to know something about me, because of course you want to. You also want to buy whatever I tell you to.
1. If you could have named yourself, which name would you have chosen, and why?
As it happens, I did choose Lily Strange, at least partially. For those who haven’t guessed yet, that’s not my real name, it’s a pen name. Lily was what my co-author initially called me. I’m not entirely clear as to why, even to this day. Seems he just thought I “felt” like a Lily. (Ghosts go on feelings more than appearances.) I chose Strange. The surface reason for this is pretty obvious. However, I wasn’t aware at the time that I was subconsciously being influenced by a character that my editor Bruce the Jackal had created for the Call of Cthulhu RPG. The character’s name was Neville Strange. I might as well get the word GEEK tattooed on my ass now.
2. If you could relive a year in your life, what age would it be, and why?
Here’s the thing–I’ve spent my life being messed up and under stress. There are certain incidents that I’d like to relive, but a whole year of my screwed up life? Hell to the no!
3. If you could go back and change one friendship in your past, who would it have been, and why?
I would have the foresight not to have been friends with any of the psychic vampires that made me even more suspicious and paranoid and at this point unable to form strong bonds with people. There is a word that describes such people: sociopaths. A sociopath does not care who he/she hurts to get what s/he wants. They tend to seek out vulnerable people and exploit them. Not all the people who have hurt me have been sociopaths, but looking back on it, a fair number of them were. Borderlines tend to be attracted to excitement and chaos. Sociopaths seek out people who are desperate for love and friendship. It’s a recipe for disaster.
4. If you could have dated one person in your past that you did not date, who would it be, and why?
Besides Bon Scott, who was my first post-pubescent crush? Nobody. Because whoever it was, it would have ended badly. The thing with Bon would not have ended badly, because it never would have happened in the first place!
6. If you had the opportunity to live in another country, which one would it be, and why? If you choose NOT to live in another country, why do you want to stay in your current country?
Switzerland because they are extremely socially conscious and are on the cutting edge with medical treatments, including the treatment of people with mental health issues.
7. If you could choose your dream job, what would it be, and why?
I just want to get paid for my writing and not have to kill myself doing this other crap anymore.
8. If you could wish a wish and it be guaranteed to come true (other than riches) what would it be, and why?
Happiness, good health, blessings and prosperity for me and those I care about. Most especially for my son–I do reserve the right to play favorites on this one.
AND a genie lamp with the right to wish for more wishes!
9. If you could meet two blogger friends (you may choose more, if you wish) who would they be?
I really cannot choose just two. I would be happy to meet any of them and for different reasons. I wish I could have a big six month long party to get to meet all of them!
Now, here is your opportunity to make me happy by buying what I tell you to.
