Yes, I Really Am Writing It

Published by bloomingpsycho at 6:00 am under Humor, NaNoWriMo, Writing Edit This

I took the “Reve-Punk” idea to heart and decided to use it as a challenge for myself to see if I really could write a novel based on such a silly premise for NaNoWriMo. The basic plot has now morphed into this:

On a dragon-filled one-way space flight, a young schlub with mild OCD stumbles across a dream-inducing drug which spurs him into conflict with an army led by a sadist. His only real allies are a couple of exiled zoological garden security guards, a sarcastic female techno-geek, and her condescending tone, which is fearsome enough to have a life of its own.

Well, I think that this is very nice. My hero, Ulfr, now has two more friends than he previously had. And the as of yet unnamed techno-geek’s condescending tone has taken on a life of its own. Ulfr also has a snotty nemesis who may end up being sinister as well as snotty (i.e. Draco Malfoy) or may end up being an annoying less-than-minor character. We shall see!

I currently have written 2818 words (two chapters) of this great mess-terpiece. I think it’s rather nice to be able to just write without worrying too much about the outcome at this juncture. It is also difficult. I am usually quite a perfectionist.

I’m curious to find out how the story turns out. I also need to find or make a picture for it. Perhaps I can flop out some crappy thing in Photoshop. Again, we shall see.
